Copywriting Work
This is my second application to the Turkiye Burslari Scholarships and probably the last, given that the age gap is closing in. As the curtains close in on me, I would love to call this “The Last Dance,” and there's no better way to have it than to leave you, the evaluating committee, with a reason to see the potential in me. Over the one year between my previous application and this, I have undergone a radical transformation, getting exposed to the international scene. The UN Conference of Youth on Climate Change, coupled with experience in other activities, have opened my eyes to real-world challenges, concluding, "I don't have to be the taller man to impact this world,” the sun does not rise overhead, but it gets there.
As a child, the world was a bigger place in my small hometown in Sudan. The furthest I knew were the silently flowing little streams and, to the other end, our nursery school on the village's outskirts. Sadly, the 2013 civil war took us by surprise and forced us Southwards to seek refuge in Uganda; as we explored further, the world became smaller. Soon, university comes knocking, and all I have is hope and determination that someday I will beat all odds to secure a scholarship. While any profession can be used to change the world, I am particularly drawn to Social Service, and this is because, growing up in a refugee camp and witnessing first-hand the challenges marginalized communities undergo, I believe the best way out would be to empower these communities to be self-sustainable. Donations, though vital, are only meant to keep the recipient tethered to the donor. With this in mind, I want to pursue a career that enables me to work hand in hand with refugee welfare societies to empower refugees to be self-sustainable. The exposure I have had to different online certificates and volunteer roles perfectly aligns with this passion, and I am confident if endowed with the chance, I will pursue this goal wholeheartedly. Interning at The Lutheran World Federation allowed me to interact with various stakeholders from impoverished households, which further aligned my perspective as I aligned more insights.
In its glory, Turkey will be a perfect place for my academic pursuits, not limited to the following reasons. Firstly, Turkey is ranked highly worldwide for its quality of education. Furthermore, with the locals often going out of their way to help international students, Turkish hospitality makes it easier to adapt to the new environment and feel at home, the diverse cohort of 178+ nationals, internship and job opportunities, the beautiful and historic cities, the natural wonders, and cultural immersion makes Turkey the perfect destination. Come what may come, I hope one day, my story will serve as a gentle reminder that no matter where we come from, no matter how little our hands may seem, we have the potential to make an impact in this world. All in all, I am creating a life that I love to live.
Job Winning Cover Letters.
Dear Hiring Manager,
I was browsing through Job in Rwanda where I saw that you're hiring. I'm a smart and hardworking guy who's just starting his programming career, and I'm looking to do some great work. Ampersand sounds like a really cool place to work as a Backend Developer, and I hope I can be a useful addition to the team.
I've put together a practice and demonstration project that you can check out, which I built using Python and Django. It's a simple, moderately-customizable to-do list that allows the user to estimate how long tasks take, and then compare their estimates with how long they actually took. The source is available on GitHub here. I've also attached my resume and LinkedIn profile, which have some additional background.
Thank you for considering my application.
Regards.

Dear Hiring Manager,
I have spent two years volunteering with a non-profit agency as a fundraiser and helped raise over $15000. It started as one of the hardest things I had ever done but I gained confidence in my ability to sell. That experience has prepared me for the Sales Rep opening on your team.
Three keys to my success have been my focus on communication, resourcefulness, and adaptability. I have been recognized for leadership by consistently communicating with my colleagues about innovative customer solutions. Upon increasing our customer satisfaction ratings from 70% to 85% within the past six months, my supervisor has pointed out how I share information and work with team members. As a result, I have consistently earned "Exceeds Expectations" ratings on performance reviews. I am ready to be your next Customer Service Group Lead.
Radiant's core values include integrity and keeping the customer "top of mind." Those values resonate with me as someone who has been in the customer service trenches for eight years. I believe we can do great things together and I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards.
John.
