Media and Communications Manager
Uganics Repellents Ltd – Kabasanda, Uganda | August 2023 – Dec 2024
I started at Uganics as an intern in August 2023 and was promoted to Media and Communications Manager by December. My focus: help the brand tell its story better and reach more people.
Media Liaison & Spokesperson
As the media lead, I handled all press relations—writing releases, managing requests, and prepping the CEO for interviews. I ensured our voice stayed clear and consistent across every channel. I also built strong media relationships that helped put Uganics on the map as a credible voice in sustainability. Every piece of communication I worked on was built to reflect our values and move the mission forward.
Media and Communications Intern — Uganics, Kampala, Uganda
January 2024 – April 2024
At Uganics, I balanced creative storytelling with practical execution—helping amplify our mission while supporting operations from the inside.
Growing Our Digital Community
I managed Uganics’ social media platforms and built a strategy that worked. In a few months, we grew our follower count by 68%. This wasn’t just about more posts—it was about meaningful ones. I tracked analytics, tweaked our approach, and made sure every post served a purpose: educate, engage, or inform. The result? A stronger digital presence and more people connected to our cause.
Designing With Purpose
I created over 100 graphics and infographics—from product explainers to awareness campaigns. These weren’t just pretty—they were built to teach. Each visual was part of a larger effort to make natural repellents and sustainable living more accessible to our audience. I focused on design that told a clear story, matched our brand, and helped our content stand out.
Finding Resources to Grow
I worked with the CEO to identify over 20 grant opportunities and supported the proposal process from start to finish. I led the drafting process, making sure we met all requirements and told our story well. Every application we submitted met the criteria—and that consistency helped position us for future funding.
Keeping the Engine Running
As the CEO’s personal assistant, I made sure things moved. I handled everything from scheduling meetings and responding to emails to supporting the planning of internal projects. I helped free up the leadership team’s time so they could focus on strategy—and kept communication flowing smoothly across the team.
This experience taught me how to lead from the background. Whether it was design, admin, or storytelling, I worked to make things clearer, faster, and better.
